How to make UGC-style videos with AI (without hiring creators)

AI can now make convincing talking-to-camera videos. The quality comes from the script and the format, not the tool. Here is the process.

How to make UGC-style videos with AI (without hiring creators)

UGC-style videos — one person talking to camera about a product, as if recommending it to a friend — are the dominant format on TikTok and Instagram Reels. AI video can now produce them without a creator or a camera. But the tool is the easy part. Whether the video works depends on the script, the structure and the details you check before posting.

Step 1: start from a customer problem

Good UGC is not a product description. It starts from a moment the viewer recognises: "I used to spend Sunday nights planning posts." Write down three problems your customer has, in their words. Each one is a video.

Step 2: write a three-beat script

A short UGC video has three parts:

  1. Hook (first 2 seconds): the problem or a surprising claim.
  2. Turn (middle): what changed — the product, the method, the result.
  3. Call to action (end): one specific next step.

Keep it to about 60 to 80 spoken words for a 20 to 30 second video. Say each idea once; repeating a line is the fastest way to lose a viewer.

Step 3: choose a consistent spokesperson

Use the same AI spokesperson across your videos so viewers start to recognise the face. Match the person to your audience and keep the setting simple — a kitchen, an office, a car — so it looks filmed on a phone.

Step 4: get the format right

  • Vertical 9:16, at full 1080x1920 resolution. Low-resolution video looks cheap and is penalised by viewers, if not by the algorithm.
  • Captions on screen. Many people watch muted.
  • A hook title on screen in the first seconds.
  • No dead air. Cut pauses between sentences.
  • Your brand at the end, briefly — a name card, not a commercial.

Step 5: check before you post

AI video can still get details wrong. Before publishing, watch it all the way through and check:

  • Does the speech match the lips, and does the voice fit the person?
  • Does any on-screen text, phone screen or logo look garbled?
  • Is there silence at the end, or a repeated line?
  • Is the claim true and specific to your business?

Step 6: publish consistently

One great AI video does little on its own. The benefit of AI is that you can publish several a week. Schedule them on the days and times your audience is active, and keep the cadence steady.
