How much does UGC content cost in 2026? Creators, agencies and AI compared

The price of a UGC video ranges from a few dollars to several hundred. Here is what drives the cost, and how to work out the real cost per published post.

User-generated-content (UGC) videos — a person talking to camera about a product, filmed on a phone — are the default format on TikTok and Instagram Reels. They work because they look like a recommendation, not an ad. The question every small business asks next is what they cost.

The honest answer is that the price per video can range from a few dollars to several hundred, depending on who makes it and how much of the work around it you still do yourself. This guide breaks down the main options.

The four ways to get UGC videos

1. Freelance UGC creators

A real person films, voices and often edits the video. Rates vary widely with the creator's experience, the usage rights you buy (organic only, or paid ads too), revisions and whether raw footage is included. Commonly quoted rates for a single video run from around $100 to several hundred dollars, and ad usage rights usually cost extra.

What you still do: find and brief creators, ship them the product, write or approve the script, wait for delivery, and post it.

2. Agencies

A UGC or social agency manages creators for you, writes briefs and handles revisions. You pay for the management on top of the creators, typically as a monthly retainer. It is the most hands-off human option and the most expensive.

What you still do: approve concepts and post (unless posting is included).

3. AI UGC video tools

Tools like Arcads and Creatify generate a UGC-style video from a script with an AI actor. Prices are usually monthly subscriptions measured in videos or credits. Third-party reviews in 2026 put Arcads at roughly $11 per video; Creatify's plans started at $15/month for 55 credits when we last checked its pricing page (21 October 2026).

What you still do: decide what to say, write scripts, generate and review, download, and post.

4. Done-for-you AI marketing

Services like MRKT DEPT plan the content, write the scripts, produce the videos with an AI spokesperson, and publish them to your accounts after you review them. MRKT DEPT's Dominate plan is $299 per month for 60 videos — about $5 per published video — with Grow ($79, 12 videos) and Scale ($169, 30 videos) below it.

What you still do: review each post before it goes out.

Cost per video is the wrong number

A cheap video that you still have to script, edit, caption and upload costs you hours. The number that matters is the cost per *published* post, including your own time:

OptionTypical priceYour time per post
Freelance creator~$100–$300+ per videoBriefing, shipping product, posting
AgencyMonthly retainerApprovals
AI video tool~$1–$15 per video (plan-dependent)Scripting, generating, editing, posting
Done-for-you AI~$5–$7 per videoReview only

If your time is worth $50 an hour and a "cheap" video takes you an hour to script and post, it is not a cheap video.

When paying more is worth it

Real creators still win when authenticity is the product — beauty, food, fitness, anything people need to see used by a real person — and for high-budget ad campaigns where a single winning creative earns back thousands. AI is strongest for consistency: showing up several times a week with clear, useful messages about your business.

Many businesses mix both: AI for the steady weekly cadence, and a real creator for a few hero videos each quarter.

How to decide

  1. Count how many posts a week you need. Consistency usually matters more than polish.
  2. Price the whole workflow, not just the video file.
  3. Start with a sample before you commit.
